Coding Sprinters past what SCN allows

SCN coding only allows what the factory data says the van has. With engineering level software I can code past that, like a 2022 rear axle in a 2016 Sprinter diesel.

Coding on a Sprinter normally goes through SCN. SCN is the online coding from Mercedes. It writes into each module what the factory data says this van has. When the parts on the van change and do not match the factory data anymore, SCN coding does not allow it.

For these cases I use engineering level software. With it I can write the coding in the modules directly.

One example. A 2016 Sprinter diesel needed the rear axle differential from a 2022 Sprinter with the gas engine. SCN does not allow this combination, and the van was off the road for two months. With the engineering software I coded the new axle in, and it took two days.

The same way a different transmission can be made to work with a different engine.

It is useful for smaller things too. The steering assist on these vans is known to be pretty annoying. Its sensitivity can be turned down so it does not fight the driver all the time.

Owners often have their own ideas for the van, and I do these mods too. What is possible depends on the platform and the modules in it, so it is always good to ask first what can be done.
